HAWN MENDES says his paranoia about being ‘weak’ nearly sabotaged his high-profile romance with Camila Cabello.

The pop pin-up happily admits he is a sensitive soul, but his attempts to shield Camila from his vulnerable side were

‘on the verge of ruining our relationship’.

Shawn, 22, explained: ‘I have always considered myself a really vulnerable guy, I was the guy who wrote In My Blood.

‘I’m the guy who talks about anxiety. I’m cool, I’m sensitive, I’m vulnerable. I always thought of myself that way until I had a girlfriend who I was so serious about, then I realised how much I was scared of being the weak man.’

Opening up on how that affected life with his Cubanborn Senorita, he continued: ‘I went through a month where I couldn’t even communicate with her because I was struggling with anxiety and I didn’t want her to see me weak.

‘I was on the verge of ruining our relationship. relationship And then when you come out on the other end you’re like, “Listen, I’m struggling here – it’s hard for me to even say this to you”, everything starts building and growing and getting stronger.’

He is pleased that he mustered up the courage to tell Camila, 23, what was going on. Shawn told Apple Music: ‘You look around and you’re like, “Oh s***” Bravery. That’s bravery. That’s strength.’

To make sure he keeps feeling confident, Shawn writes in a journal every day. ‘At the end of my journal, I sign off with, “Love you, man. Always got your back”.’ Monster, his duet with fellow Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, drops tomorrow.
