Drink up: Tom Kerridge to the rescue

Saving Britain’s Pubs With Tom Kerridge BBC2, 8pm

If any series sums up the chaos of 2020, surely it’s this one. Kerridge’s mission to rescue Britain’s ailing pub tradition has been overtaken by events, none more so than a closing instalment, which catches up with the featured hostelries just as the first lockdown is about to hit. If there’s a follow-up series you get a sinking feeling Lockdown 2 would be all about calling ‘time!’

Tonight: Secrets Of Your Online Christmas ITV, 7.30pm With delivery hubs popping up all over the place and online retailers reporting business rocketing by 50 per cent, the pandemic has significantly shifted our shopping habits. But do we know what we’re getting into when it comes to online shopping? Fiona Foster outlines what to do when online purchases miss the mark and there’s no shop you can have a strop in.

The Fall Of Anne Boleyn: Execution Channel 5, 9pm

No need for a spoiler alert on this one, it’s been clear from the beginning that the ill-fated Anne Boleyn was for the chop. But historian Tracy Borman does a fine job of breathing life into the bare bones of a story in which Henry VIII is a baddie beyond redemption.

Taskmaster C4, 9pm

If you’re looking for sheer bonkers escapism (and who isn’t, right now?), then Taskmaster has it covered. Giant marbles, the sound of cornflakes and the distinct lack of telepathy ’twixt Daisy May Cooper and Richard Herring are sure to crack a smile.
