WALTZ A TIME TO EXIT! RANVIR RUES MISSING OUT ON FINAL

-

RANVIR SINGH has fallen at the last hurdle – missing out on a place in this week’s Strictly Come Dancing final.

The Good Morning Britain presenter lost out in a dance-off to reality star Jamie Laing, who will compete with pop singer HRVY, comedian Bill Bailey and EastEnders actress Maisie Smith for the glitterball trophy.

The 43-year-old finished bottom of the leaderboard amassing 44 out of 60 points for her waltz to Josh Groban’s Un Giorno Per Noi and jive to Christina Aguilera’s Candyman.

Voting to save Laing, 32, judge Craig Revel Horwood criticised Singh’s footwork for her waltz, and said her dress ‘covered a multitude of sins’.

Motsi Mabuse backed Singh, but head judge Shirley Ballas – casting the deciding vote – said: ‘Both teams gave their all, but one couple had more determination, a little more, “I’m not leaving without that trophy.” I’m saving Jamie and Karen (Hauer, his partner).’ Exiting the ballroom, Singh said: ‘I’m sad not to be in the final, but I am glad we’ve moved people to tears and the Argentine tango was an amazing moment.’

She said of dance partner Giovanni Pernice: ‘He’s worked so hard and been in so many finals that I’m sorry I couldn’t do it for you.’

He responded: ‘You don’t have to be sorry, we both worked very hard. You are a true hero, your job at 3am then you come dance with me... so well done you.’

Last night’s results show also featured Little Mix, who performed their single Break Up Song. The Strictly final airs on BBC1 on Saturday at 6pm.
