RASHFORD TOO SHARP FOR BLADES BATTLERS

- By nick metcalfe

MANCHESTER United recovered from an awful start at Bramall Lane to beat ailing Sheffield United 3-2 and maintain their perfect away record in the Premier League.

An early howler from Dean Henderson gifted a goal to David McGoldrick for the Blades but the Reds showed their class after that, with Marcus Rashford on target twice, and Anthony Martial once, to make it six wins from six on the road. They moved up to sixth in the division, while Sheffield United stay bottom, with just a single point.

As is so often the case this season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had a terrible start, conceding after just five minutes, and Henderson will not want to be watching any repeats.

Henderson, on his return to Bramall Lane, played a one-two with Harry Maguire but fatally delayed too long, allowing Oliver Burke to

slide in and win the ball, leaving McGoldrick with a tap-in.

It was nearly even worse for the visitors soon after that, with John Fleck curling narrowly wide after fine skill from Chris Basham.

But Solskjaer’s men woke up and were level after 26 minutes. Victor Lindelof directed a pass over the top, with Rashford running onto it, bringing the ball down with a sumptuous first touch and lashing home.

Seven minutes later, they went in

front, with Paul Pogba setting up Martial, who beat goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to the ball and then poked into the net.

Six minutes after the break, it was 3-1, with a flowing move involving Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, and Rashford firing in his second.

It looked like it would be a cruise to the finish line but McGoldrick deflected the ball in with his head for his second and Henderson had to save well late on from Lys Mousset.
