TONIGHT’S TV CHOICE
NEW Staged BBC1, 9.45pm
It’s back but is that good news or bad? Because when David Tennant and Michael Sheen first teamed up in this Zoom-based comedy about the cast of a stage show rehearsing via video chat during lockdown, it felt like a novelty to get us through a crisis. Now, though, it’s back with season two and looking like this could be the new TV normal. Still, it’s very funny – but, please, no season three.
Traces BBC1, 9pm
Here’s a sign of the times – BBC1 picking up dramas from Alibi and popping them on primetime. Not that we’re complaining as this stars Molly Windsor as a forensic pathology student with a murky past and Traces more than merits wider exposure. Laura Fraser, Vincent Regan and Martin Compston lend strong support.
NEW Korean Pork Belly Rhapsody Netflix
What better way to kick-start the gastric juices in 2021 than with a spot of crackling Korean pork belly? It makes a change from cakes. The secrets of the Asian cuisine classic will be revealed as top Korean chefs get the belly on – and rumbling.
NEW The Cabins ITV2, 9pm
Forget Love Island, this is Love Shack. Here the pairing up goes on in luxury log cabins – think an XRated Center Parcs – where dating apps are banned and, gulp, potential couples must actually talk to each other. Flesh time is guaranteed thanks to handy hot tubs and the format’s got legs – if only the cast wasn’t standard-issue, attentioncraving, reality show desperadoes.
