AND ANOTHER THING...

Roger (MetroTalk, Mon) hits the nail on the head. For years we’ve been treating our elections like an episode of The X Factor, picking the candidate with the best hair or the one who would be a right laugh down the pub and ignoring the fact that they have no real qualities needed for the job. We’re going back to the days when being snapped kissing babies was an essential part of any politician’s campaign. Mick, London

Donald Trump should not be allowed to stand for any other political post after all the cheating he has done – and because he is so childish, he thinks everyone else does the same. Now he’s been caught out demanding the Georgia election chief ‘find him votes’ (Metro, Tue) he should be put on the bus to Timbuktu! He needs to be taught a lesson that money doesn’t always buy everything and getting others to do it for you is not how it works. He should have been kicked out long ago, with all his lies and stupid behaviour. Dirty old men like him need to be put away.

Mr Trump is the best president the US has had. God bless him and his family that he may continue his reign and keep the US on the right path. Colin, London

JJR Horsetail is convinced the EU is about to collapse (MetroTalk, Dec 23). He should have a chat with the

Brexiteers, who thought the EU was bullying us. It can’t be both. So far, the only country having serious problems (not related to Covid) is the UK. Support for the EU in most European countries has risen since our referendum as they witness the mess the UK is in. In fact, most countries in the world think the UK has gone mad. It saddens me that so many people believed the false promises and continue to do so in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.

Bees and other pollinating insects are not yet extinct. The sun is still shining and no one is dropping bombs on us. We have much to be thankful for. Don Trower, Braintree
