TRUMP FALLS OUT WITH HIS HENCHMAN GIULIANI

- By JOEL TAYLOR

DONALD TRUMP has reportedly told aides not to pay the legal fees of his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani as he becomes increasingly isolated after his failed bid to cling on to office.

The US president – impeached for a historic second time on Wednesday – is said to have been upset by the ex-New York mayor’s bill of $20,000 (£14,500) a day for leading the doomed challenge.

Sources say he was miffed when the lawyer held a press conference outside Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Philadelphia, in an apparent mix-up with the Four Seasons hotel.

And Mr Giuliani also drew mockery for sweating hair dye during a TV press briefing. The alleged dispute comes amid claims that the president feels abandoned by other trusted allies.

His aides said little in his defence before Wednesday’s vote to impeach him for inciting insurrection, following the riot at the Capitol building that killed five people in Washington.

Banned from Twitter over concerns he incited the riot with his claims of election fraud, he urged supporters to shun ‘violence and vandalism’ in a video message after the vote.

Mr Giuliani could face legal trouble for urging Trump supporters to engage in ‘trial by combat’. But he says he was merely referring to Game of Thrones, which he called a ‘famous documentary about fictitious medieval England’.

Staff have been seen removing office furniture from the White House ahead of Joe Biden’s inauguration next week.
