CARRIE ON DILYN!
WHY No.10 PET’S PHOTO CALL ENDED UP BEING A DOG’S DINNER
THE mobile phone number of Carrie Symonds has been accidentally leaked by Downing Street after it released photos of her dog Dilyn with her details visible on his collar.
Snaps of the pooch playing in the snow in No.10’s back garden clearly showed the private information of Boris Johnson’s fiancée written on his ID tag.
Metro.co.uk spotted the digits and called the number, which went to a voicemail message saying: ‘Hi you’ve reached Carrie’s phone, I’m afraid I can’t take your call right now but please leave me a message or, even better, send a text.’
Entering the phone number on WhatsApp also revealed that the account’s profile picture is an image of Ms Symonds cradling her baby son Wilfred, who was born last year.
The photos were released to the mainstream media and posted on No.10’s Flickr account before those showing the number were later removed.
It comes amid a row over the use of a taxpayer-funded photographer to take light-hearted pictures of the prime minister’s dog. Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner tweeted: ‘Millions of hard-pressed families face a £1,000 universal credit cut and the government is refusing to extend free school meals during half term next week, but there is apparently no limit on the budget for a coterie of vanity photographers for Boris Johnson.’
Asked if it was an appropriate use of money, the PM’s spokesman said the photos ‘document the work of government as well as the work inside No.10’. He said two civil servants and a special adviser are employed as photographers.
