Insta abusers face having their accounts removed

-

INSTAGRAM has announced new measures to tackle online abuse in the wake of the latest spate of sickening racist attacks on footballers.

Manchester United players Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Axel Tuanzebe and Lauren James are among those to have been subjected to racism on social media in the last fortnight alone.

A man was arrested during that period after Romaine Sawyers was sent what West Brom called an ‘abhorrent message’, while Chelsea full-back Reece James – brother of Lauren – suffered vile abuse via an

Instagram direct message. Instagram does not use technology to proactively detect content within private messages but says it will remove abusive accounts to reduce the vitriol people receive in direct messages.

Fadzai Madzingira, content policy manager at Facebook, which owns

Instagram, said: ‘I am horrified they have to deal with that sort of abuse and we take it very seriously.

‘We’re taking tougher measures on people who violate rules in Instagram direct messaging, so instead of just extending (length of bans), we’ll be removing the accounts altogether.’

DUSTIN JOHNSON made it three straight winning bets on golf’s European Tour for us when the world No.1 became the 5/1 champion at the Saudi International.

What’s more, Tony Finau and Viktor Hovland cashed in each-way bets by finishing in the top six, as did Xander

Schauffele and Scott Scheffler in the Phoenix Open.

There is no European event this week so on to the Pebble Beach ProAm and Paul Casey has been enjoying some superb form in recent outings.

His run of success includes a win in Dubai followed by a tied 12th on

Sunday and he enjoyed a solo second in this event a couple of years ago.

Casey is 18/1 with Paddy Power, while Kevin Streelman (33/1 Bet365), Henrik Norlander (45/1 Bet365) and Jordan Spieth (22/1 William Hill) are our other each-ways to carry on adding funds to our accounts.
