UAE’S FIRST PHOTO OF MARS

- UAE SPACE AGENCY/AFP/GETTY

MARS emerges from shadows in the first image captured by the United Arab Emirates’ spacecraft after a 307million-mile voyage.

The Hope Probe took the photo 15,350 miles above the surface – capturing Olympus Mons, Mars’s highest volcano, and the Tharsis Montes – a row of three more.

‘The Hope Probe’s first image of Mars is a defining moment in our history,’ tweeted Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. ‘We hope this mission will lead to new discoveries which will benefit humanity.’

After launching last July, the craft entered orbit last week, making the UAE the first Arab nation to reach Mars. It aims to collect data on atmosphere and climate.

BRIDGERTON star Regé-Jean Page is to join the showbiz aristocracy by hosting Saturday Night Live.

The 31-year-old – who plays Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, in Netflix’s most-streamed drama ever – will present the legendary US comedy show this Saturday.

Insiders say he will parody his raunchy role as a dashing bachelor, committed to avoiding marriage until he meets his match. Rapper Bad Bunny will be the musical guest in the NBC comedy show.

Page follows in the footsteps of A-listers Robert DeNiro,

Chris Rock, J-Lo and Eddie Murphy as a host of the show.

Bridgerton will return for a second series, Netflix has confirmed.

Regarding whether travel restrictions should be eased for the summer, I think what’s more important is that restrictions should be eased as soon as possible in the leisure industry.

If we have to suffer this lockdown any longer, I’d feel better if building sites closed to produce a safer travelling experience for essential workers and that we could have controlled time slots to eat out or go for a drink safely. The construction sector has done OK not being shut down but it’s unfair for other sectors to be penalised – other sectors that contribute to our well-being.

It was another packed train on Friday with a new variant in play. I think we could do better.
