GLAMPING, GROMIT AND SLOW TRAVEL

- compiled by LAURA MILLAR

GLAMP IT UP

Glamping is already streets ahead when it comes to camping, with its posh tent, proper bed and fire pit. This summer, renowned Lake District restaurant The Yan is going one better and offering gastro glamping – that’s glamping with actual room service. It has two luxury pods on its site at Broadrayne Farm and will serve dishes right to the door. You can even get breakfast in bed. Walk it all off with hikes around scenic Grasmere.

Four nights start at £275 (each pod sleeps two), meals extra. To book, visit grasmereglamping.co.uk and theyan.co.uk

ENJOY A GRAND DAY ‘OUT’

Give the kids a treat with a first-of-its-kind augmented reality adventure featuring lovable duo Wallace & Gromit, part of Visit Bristol’s online experiences for February half term. The Big Fix Up sees the pair embarking on a new business venture, Spick & Spanners, which has won a contract to fix and clean all of Bristol. But then they encounter a mystery…

TAKE IT SLOW

Slower, thoughtful, more responsible travel may become a positive after the pandemic. With that aim, this year sees the launch of Byway, a sustainable, flight-free, ABTA-protected travel company. It aims to get travellers exploring by train, boat and bike, offering trips off the beaten track to local hotspots, hidden viewpoints and awe-inspiring detours. It currently offers trips across the UK and France, and holiday packages start at £160pp for three nights (based on two people sharing). byway.travel
