GOAL RUSH IN EUROPE LIFTS OLE AND JOSE

- COLIN MURRAY by NICK METCALFE

BURNLEY are assessing the injuries to Robbie Brady and Johann Berg Gudmundsson but Clarets boss Sean Dyche admits their chances of being available against West Brom ‘do not look good’.

Both players had to be withdrawn during Wednesday night’s home 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Brady lasted only 25 minutes as a replacement for Gudmundsson, who went off just before half-time, and both will have scans before tomorrow’s fixture.

MANCHESTER United and Tottenham put domestic disappointments behind them last night with thumping wins in the Europa League, almost guaranteeing their places in the last 16.

United saw off Real Sociedad 4-0 in Turin in the first leg of their last-32 tie, with Bruno Fernandes scoring twice.

Marcus Rashford and Daniel James were also on target as the Reds bounced back from their frustrating Premier League draw at West Brom.

Meanwhile, after losing 3-0 against leaders Manchester City last weekend, Spurs cantered to a 4-1 victory over Austria’s Wolfsberger in Budapest – Heung-min Son, Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius getting the goals for Jose Mouirnho’s side.

United’s win over Sociedad was a job well done for boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who said: ‘We scored some good goals and played some nice football. On a night like this when we find spaces we can be a dangerous team.

Fernandes, who put United in control of the tie with goals after 27 and 57 minutes, added: ‘My target is to score the most goals I can, that is my position. The only target is to win trophies.’

Bale, making a rare start for Spurs, produced an impressive display that was noted by team-mate Son who paid tribute by saying: ‘I have a really close relationship with him. I’m very happy he’s getting game time and scored a goal and got an assist.’

Elsewhere, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers declared himself ‘delighted with the spirit’ of his team as the Foxes drew 0-0 at Slavia Prague.
