ROCK ‘N’ TROLLS

SOMEONE THEY HATED... CAPALDI TOPS LIST OF BRIT STARS ABUSED ONLINE

- by ANDREI HARMSWORTH

LEWIS CAPALDI has scored another No.1... but it’s the dubious honour of being Britain’s most-trolled pop star.

The 24-year-old Scot beat Harry Styles and Dua Lipa to the accolade, with one in five messages he receives on Twitter being abusive.

The brutal research was revealed by OnBuy.com, which analysed more than 6,000 tweets per artist.

However, Capaldi, whose chart-topper Someone You Loved reached a staggering 1.7billion streams, is likely to take it on the chin.

He has spoken in the past about being trolled for his unusual looks.

After one post calling him ‘ ugly’ won 75,000 likes, the Brit award winner admitted: ‘ There are haters, yes. I’d love to look like Zac Efron. I don’t. I look like me.

‘But I don’t get upset about things that don’t matter. Like if someone says to me, “You’re ugly” online. It doesn’t matter to me. It’s not something that bothers me really. It doesn’t keep me up at night as a person.’

Also falling victim to hate is DJ Joel Corry, who finds ten per cent of his messages are abusive.

Next comes his Head & Heart collaborator MNEK, who gets just slightly less, but still about ten per cent. Dua Lipa comes fourth with eight per cent of negativity. She has said previously: ‘I experienced a s*** ton [of bullying] at the end of my first record, and it was definitely something that gave me anxiety.’

1D heartthrob Harry Styles rounds out the top five, with seven per cent of his messages being horrible.

The most-trolled artist in the world is Cardi B, with almost a quarter of her online attention negative.
