TONIGHT’S TV CHOICE

- By George! KEITH WATSON

NEW Grayson’s Art Club C4, 8pm

There’s a lot to admire about the way Grayson Perry has turned the Covid lockdown into a mission to nurture the nation’s creative instincts. The thinking – just do it and don’t worry if you think it’s not any good – has its roots in punk philosophy so crack open the paintbox or whatever rocks your art and try a portrait of tonight’s guest, 1980s pop star Boy George.

St David’s Day At The BBC BBC4, 9pm

The pick of a night dedicated to the Land of Song is classic clips from the best of Welsh pop with Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, Catatonia and Marina And The Diamonds taking centre stage.

St David’s Day is actually on Monday but for this line-up we’ll let that pass.

NEW Gogglebox C4, 9pm

The initial innocence of Gogglebox has been replaced by more knowing camera-hogging, mainly down to casting that has one eye on finding new ‘personalities’. But the odd gem still sneaks through and Mary (of Giles and Mary) still has the comfiest armchair on TV.

Later… with Jools Holland BBC2, 10pm

There’s a lot of great music around but the gap between what makes the charts and what gets critical raves has rarely been wider. Rag’n’Bone Man performing All You Ever Wanted is the closest tonight’s Later… gets to that crossover. Jools is also joined in the studio by jazz drummer Moses Boyd and folk veteran Peggy Seeger.
