AND ANOTHER THING...

- Mick, London

n Andy responds to Teresa asking why men ignore social distancing and sit near her on an otherwise empty train by complaining about ‘selfish women’ doing their make-up near others (MetroTalk, Tue). He misses the point. Men sit next to women in empty train carriages to intimidate – there is no other explanation. Comparing this to women putting on make-up makes no sense.

George, London

n I was sitting on a park bench when a male walked past lots of others and joined me. I’m in my late sixties, so it wasn’t for my looks. When I said that he should not sit there, he said that if I didn’t like it, I should sit on the grass! Jean, Walthamstow

n David Cameron’s lobbying for Greenshill Capital (Metro, Tue) is yet another example of the collusion between political figures and the wealthy to maintain their finances. This class of political elite must be cleared out and we must start afresh.

Ted, Reading

n All lobbying should be banned, except in open forums.

John Lawton, Runcorn

n As many as 8,000 people coming to this country every day as tourists (Metro, Tue)? What a disgrace. We are banned from going abroad, told to stay in our homes for eight months of the last 12 and not even allowed to meet family, yet these people can come into Britain possibly carrying Covid variants that the vaccines cannot address. Keith, via email

n A church in Balham is angry police broke up a congregation on Good Friday. Does their sanctimony make them immune from Covid? Many devout people have caught and died of Covid. This is not the Middle Ages – diseases are not the result of God’s displeasure and praying will not protect you.
