Tributes to ‘kindest boy’ Logan found dead in river

- By AIDAN RADNEDGE

A YOUNGSTER found dead in a river has been described as ‘the kindest boy you could meet’.

Friends and neighbours last night paid tribute to Logan Williamson, five, whose body was discovered just 400 yards from his home. Police have said they are treating his death as murder.

Cuddly toys and floral tributes have been left near the river Ogmore, where Logan’s body was discovered at 5.45am on Saturday.

One girl had left a drawing of a boy and girl playing together with the words: ‘Logan I love you’ written on it.

Another tribute read: ‘A shining light has gone out. You have been taken away too soon. I will miss your smile.’

One neighbour in Sarn, near Bridgend, south Wales, said Logan had a ‘lovely mischievous smile’ and was a ‘cheeky chap who always looked so happy’.

Another neighbour, Frederick Witchell, 78, added: ‘He seemed like such a nice little boy. It’s very sad.’

Others claimed Logan, who lived with his mother Angharad Hunt, stepfather Jay Cole and a baby sibling, had been self-isolating while recovering from Covid when the tragedy happened.

Neighbours had previously told how they were woken by screams coming from outside the family home early on Saturday morning.

One said: ‘The mum was screaming for her son. She shouted “the back door was open” and called for him.’

South Wales Police have arrested a 39-year-old man, a woman aged 30 and a boy of 13 on suspicion of murder. ‘We are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident,’ the force said.
