Help off dad? That’ll be the Dre, says his homeless girl

- By ISOLDE WALTERS

THE estranged eldest daughter of rap legend Dr. Dre says she is homeless and living in her rented car after being snubbed by her $800million dad.

Single mum LaTanya Young, 38, works in a warehouse and delivers food for Uber Eats and DoorDash but can’t afford a home for herself and her four children, who have never met their granddad.

‘I’m homeless and I’ve been reaching out to my dad for help,’ she said. ‘My kids stay with friends. They’re not living in the SUV. It’s just me. I’ve been in debt for a while, taking odd jobs to keep my head above water.’

LaTanya was just five when mum Lisa

Johnson, 53, split with Dr. Dre (pictured) – real name Andre Romelle Young – the NWA star who later sold his Beats headphones brand to Apple for $3billion. Last week, a court told him to pay ex-wife Nicole Young $300,000 a month. ‘What Nicole got is what my mom should have got,’ said LaTanya, of Tarzana, California. ‘I honestly wrote a proposal and asked him if he could get a home for me and my sister and my kids. He was meant to put us through college and pay our health insurance and he never did that. Mom felt he never upheld his end of the bargain. I commend Nicole in a way – she did what she had to do.’

LaTanya has not seen her dad for 18 years and has to communicate through his legal team. When he had a brain aneurysm in January ‘it was like pulling teeth just to know if he was alright’.

She admitted her father paid her rent and gave her an allowance until January 2020, adding: ‘His lawyer has said my dad doesn’t want to help because I’ve spoken about him in the press. I’m damned if I do, I’m damned if I don’t.

‘I’m just trying to communicate and see if he wants to talk to his grandkids.

‘People label me a millionaire’s daughter and don’t understand why I’m working,’ she added. ‘It makes me want to crawl under a rock.’
