TONIGHT’S TV CHOICE

-

NEW Deceit C4, 9pm

The brutal murder of Rachel Nickell on Wimbledon Common made headline news in 1992 with the police put under huge pressure to arrest her killer. Pressure that led to the hugely botched operation that forms the basis of this gripping four-part drama. Niamh Algar stars as the undercover police officer, codename Lizzie James, tasked with teasing a confession out of prime suspect Colin Stagg.

Love Island ITV2, 9pm

It’s fair to say this series of Love Island has scarcely set the world on fire but now the Olympics is over we’re ready to dipping our toes tentatively back in its shallow waters and wonder, ‘Hey, what the heck happened to Brad?’ Though maybe we’ll just save ourselves for ITV2’s next body-bait Ready To Mingle, which arrives next month.

Tori Amos: Live In Concert Sky Arts, 9pm

Sky Arts continues to cast its live music net wide, here coming up with a treat for fans of mercurial singer-songwriter Tori Amos, a talent whose restlessly creative back catalogue stretches from hits Cornflake Girl and Silent All These

Years to epic ballads and snapshots of unforgettable characters. A treat.

Apocalypse Wow ITV2, 10.05pm

ITV2 twice on one night? That has to be a sign of imminent apocalypse. As indeed is this bonkers gameshow fashioned from leftover bits of Mad Max and Total Wipeout. It’s ideal Friday fun with Scarlett Moffatt sharing space with a champion competitive eater. KEITH WATSON
