SPURS BOSS NUNO KEEN TO REUNITE WITH TRAORE

- By GAVIN BROWN

TOTTENHAM are keen to sign Adama Traore but are yet to make a formal bid for the Wolves winger.

Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo is an admirer of the 25-yearold, having signed him during his four years at Molineux.

Traore showcased his talents during the Premier League match between the two sides on Sunday.

After the game, which his side won 1-0 thanks to Dele Alli’s early penalty, Nuno said: ‘I think Wolves have a very good team and created us enormous problems.

‘One of those was Adama. Everyone knows Adama is unique and he’s very hard to stop.’

Spurs are said to have explored the possibility of signing Traore, who is under contract until 2023, on loan with the obligation to buy for £40million. However, it is understood Wolves would not currently entertain such a deal and have no need to sell the Spaniard.

If Spurs can agree a transfer for Traore before next Tuesday’s deadline, he would add another attacking option, joining Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Heung-min Son and Bryan Gil as players who can be deployed in a wide position.

SEAN DYCHE has hit back strongly at Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp over his criticism of Burnley’s physical approach against his side, branding the comments ‘inappropriate’.

Klopp singled out strikers Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood when he complained about some of the challenges in Liverpool’s 2-0 win on Saturday and expressed concern at the prospect of officials letting games flow more.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Carabao Cup trip to Newcastle, Burnley boss Dyche said: ‘Every manager has the right to have their say – he certainly had his.

‘But it seems to me the feedback has probably been considerably the opposite of that. You have a referee there of some 800, 900 games (Mike Dean) who didn’t book anyone. So it is quite bizarre when you look at it like that, just factually, how he could suggest there were some untoward challenges.

‘My disappointment is he is name-checking players. There is absolutely no need to do that.

‘We have professional players who

have worked very, very hard in their careers to get to where they have got to. The implication of them being untoward in some of their challenges is wrong. I think it’s inappropriate.’

Dyche appeared to disagree with Klopp’s fears about refereeing trends, adding: ‘I’m not worried about protection of players, because I think players get protected to a level that is unbelievable in my history of the game – and rightly so in some cases.

‘My worry is he is questioning a team shouldn’t do everything they can to win a game within the laws, which we did, because there wasn’t a single card.

‘I know the history of Liverpool, I was a Liverpool fan as a kid, still am. And you don’t have to go far, looking down the annals of Liverpool’s history, to suggest they had a few players who made sure they were fighting, not just playing but fighting, to win a game – and they’ve still got a few.’
