NO KANE DO

HARRY’S £150M MOVE TO MAN CITY IS OFF (FOR NOW) AS HE STAYS AT SPURS

- By MATTHEW NASH

HARRY KANE’S decision to stay at Tottenham has been hailed as ‘fantastic’ by manager Nuno Espirito Santo after a proposed move to Manchester City fell through.

Kane, who made his first appearance of the season as a substitute in the 1-0 Premier League win at Wolves on Sunday, has accepted he is not going to go with six days of the summer transfer window left.

He tweeted: ‘It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks. I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100 per cent focused on helping the team achieve success.’

The 28-year-old had wanted to leave in search of trophies but the club were determined to keep him. However, Kane yesterday only went as far as to say he was staying put ‘this summer’, leading to questions over whether the striker could move in January.

City bid £100million in June but Spurs are believed to have wanted closer to £150m for a player who is halfway through a six-year contract. Kane is now set to line up against Pacos de Ferreira in tonight’s home Europa Conference League qualifier second leg, with Spurs trailing 1-0. Nuno declared the saga over and could give Kane his first league start of the campaign at home to Watford this weekend. He said: ‘Great news. Fantastic news. I think since Harry joined us he has been working, so this is what we value. His attitude in training has been excellent.’ The Portuguese feels desire will not be an issue for Kane.

‘I think it’s up to us and everybody, and the player himself, to get his motivation, said Nuno. ‘There should not be any kind of doubts in terms of motivation to play for Spurs. Amazing club, good team.

‘We are in a process and we need everybody involved.’
