LONDON’S WHERE HE WANTS TO STAY
HE KID LAROI plans a move to London after getting to experience his first legal pint in the capital.
The 18-year-old Australian stopped off in London on his way to Reading & Leeds Festival, where he performed his global No.1 Stay.
‘The first thing I did when I got to London is I walked into the pub and I bought a pint legally, which was cool,’ Laroi told Guilty Pleasures.
Earlier this month, he celebrated turning 18 with collab pal Justin Bieber at a Hollywood club – but the legal drinking age in the US is 21.
Now the Not Sober rapper, from Sydney, has a thirst for British life. ‘This is my first time in London. I love it and I want to move here,’ he added.
As for following Biebs’s teen stumbles to stardom, Laroi is enjoying the ride. ‘The best thing about it is you get to skip the line at amusement parks. That’s the really cool thing about being famous,’ he said. ‘It’s f***ing sick. The bad part is you have more people that love you and more people that hate you. There’s more people that try and ruin your life.’ Emulating his idol Justin is still living up to the hype. ‘Everything I am doing now was my dream from the beginning,’ said Laroi. As a birthday gift, Biebs chucked a platinum Rolex his way. ‘In terms of jewellery it’s the most expensive thing I own,’ he added. ‘I haven’t really started to buy lots of jewellery yet. I am definitely a little bit more understated.’ Sadly Laroi can’t celebrate his success with his family back home because of his homeland’s strict border rules. ‘I miss Australia loads. I get super homesick,’ he admitted.
His Reading set was part of a monster weekend for festivals as live music bounced back from the pandemic. Stormzy, Liam Gallagher and Post Malone were also at Reading & Leeds while in east London Foals, London Grammar, Bicep, Jamie XX, Slowthai and Arlo Parks played the All Points East festival.
