Heath extend hot streak in quadrangular tournament
The annual quadrangular competition involving teams from Piltdown, Crowborough, Seaford and Haywards Heath Golf Clubs was played on September 6 at Seaford.
The schedule of morning matches was Seaford v Crowborough and Piltdown v Haywards Heath.
Following the morning matches Haywards Heath progressed to the final against Crowborough.
The top two matches of the afternoon foursomes were close affairs resulting in a 1 up win for both sides.
David Maxwell and Paul Corris came home with a resounding 5 & 4 win in the final match.
The overall two matches to one victory means the trophy is back at Haywards Heath.
The success means Heath have won four of the last six meeting, and eight out of the last 11 encounters. Wonderful autumnal weather awaited the 56 ladies from Haywards Heath Golf Club who played in the Autumn Meeting on August 7.
An 18-hole medal competition with a two tee started the morning, and was followed by a nine-hole Texas Scramble in the afternoon.
There was also a nine-hole qualifying Stableford competition for those ladies unable to play 18 holes.
The best nett score, from either silver or bronze handicaps, and winner of the Witherington Cup, went to Chris Kernohan with Nett 69, on countback from Rosemary Parvin, also Nett 69.
The Cuckfield Cup, for the best bronze scratch, went to Pat Jenks with 92 gross, with Rosemary Parvin in second with 96 and Kath Honeysett third with 101.
The Woollan Cup, for the best silver scratch, went to Aisling Cloonan with 85, followed closely in second by Fiona Spencer with 86, on countback from Alison Hopson in third, who also shot 86.
Spring and Autumn Meeting scores are combined to determine the winner of the Hamilton Cup for the best combined nett score, and the Coltart Cup for the best combined gross score. The winner of both trophies this year was Aisling Cloonan
The nine-hole qualifying Stableford was won by Fiona Muecher with 18 points. Second place went to Brenda Duncan with 16 points, and third was Vikki Kindell with 15 points.
