Sussex Barn hope to bring some true Christmas magic

- Christmas campaign

by Kevin Webb, assistant manager, Sussex Barn Myself Kevin Webb, our General Manager Lucian Hornea and the team are delighted to be hosting and supporting My Choice Children’s Homes special event for Chestnut Tree House.

I joined as the Assistant Manager back in October and Lucian took over as General Manager back in December. It has been a fantastic nine months of working together and although we were closed between January and May, it gave us the Opportunity to set out our new vision for the Sussex Barn which is to be at the centre of our community.

Being committed to the communities we serve is a value that Greene King champion, in May 2012 the company partnered with Macmillan and since then have raised over £10 million.

As a business we are always encouraged to not only support the company’s causes but also to take ownership of the business and support local causes. In

August with the support of the local community we held our inaugural family fun day raising funds for Macmillan.

The weather was not our friend that day but the community spirit ensured the day was still a success and we managed to raise in excess of £1200 on the day and over £2,500 YTD.

Whilst planning our festive period we wanted an event where we could use our position to give back to the local community and started looking into doing something along the lines of a ‘giving tree’.

Whilst planning this

Icame across Dawn [Ives] and Davids’ post looking for people to help them support Chestnut Tree House. Knowing the fantastic work they carry out and seeing an opportunity to dovetail our idea with Dawn and David and approached them to see if this was viable.

One week later and we have a plan that we hope will support the Chestnut tree House to the maximum through an evening we hope will bring some true Christmas magic.

With turkeys on a spit roast, Mulled Wine simmering away and a very special visit from Santa himself to help us hand over the donations we hope this will truly be a Christmas to Remember.

My Choice Children’s Homes are especially excited to receive the following donations: New Toys New Lego Arts and Crafts Treats for the staff and families

And raffle prizes
