MP calls for ‘troll’ outlawing
A LABOUR MP has called for action to stop internet trolls.
Labour’s Steve Rotheram was prompted after sick comments were left on the Facebook page of Georgia Varley, 16 – who died last year after falling under a train in Liverpool.
A tribute site to her attracted internet “trolls” – who posted offensive messages and pictures.
Many were left by people using fake profiles.
The memorial page’s administrators were forced to delete the posts and create new dedication groups.
But the trolls continued to plague the pages with their sickening comments.
Mr Rotheram, MP for Liverpool Walton, called those responsible “despicable.”
He added: “These sites are set up so friends and family can leave messages of remembrance and I believe ‘trolling’ has the same effect as desecrating a grave.
“We want to make it clear that they can be punished for what they have done.” A MURDER investigation has been launched after the discovery of a woman’s body on the Queen’s Sandringham estate.
Police today said they would examine cold cases across the country to help identify the victim, whose remains were found by a dog walker on New Year’s Day.
Det Chief Inspector Jes Fry, of Norfolk Police, said: “We are at the very early stages of what could be a complex inquiry.
“The body has been there for some time but I can’t comment on whether that is weeks, months or years.
“The circumstances suggest this is a murder case and we are looking at missing persons reports and cold cases both locally and nationwide.”
Police started the inquiry after the discovery near the village of Anmer, cordoning off a large area of woodland less than a mile from where the Royal Family gathered for Christmas.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are in residence at the estate, accompanied by the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their two young children.
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place this week.
