FUNNYMAN Hugh Dennis has told how spymasters once demanded to know if he was A GAY!

The team captain, 50, was approached while he was studying for a geography degree at posh Cambridge University – a common breeding ground for future spooks.

Dennis – who presents a new series

on BBC1 next Thursday – told Radio Times: “I went down to Carlton House Terrace in Westminster for an interview. I can’t remember much about it other than thinking I’d make a terrible spy.

“They did the normal: ‘Are you a homosexual? Ever been a member of the Communist Party?’

“I recall one man stared at me silently for ages.”
