Redknapp, 64, is accused of receiving two bungs totalling £189,500 into his Rosie47 account in Monaco – named after his dog – while manager of Portsmouth FC.
Former Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric, 73, stands accused alongside Redknapp of setting up the offshore payments in a deliberate attempt to dodge tax payments of around £140,000. Both deny the charges. Summing up the trial before sending out the jury to find a verdict, Judge Leonard said: “Whatever your feelings about football, ignore them.”
He added that jurors were not to treat them any differently to any other defendant.
The jury were sent home for the evening at 4.30pm yesterday and will resume deliberations this morning.
