Machete attack trio jailed for 24 years
A MUM dubbed “She Devil”, who hacked a man with a machete and urged her adult kids to join in on attacks, has been jailed.
Margaret Gilheaney, 36, was arrested after a man was battered senseless with a broken bottle by her son Joseph and another almost stabbed to death by her and her daughter Isabel.
The vicious attacks were carried out by Gilheaney’s teenage children, both 19, during rowdy parties at her home in Accrington, Lancs.
The first victim, Jordan Daley, who had been celebrating his 18th birthday, was left needing 51 stitches and scarred for life after being savagely beaten with a bottle by Joseph.
The second victim, dad-of-three Matthew Howard, 27, was attacked with a machete by Isabel and Margaret.
He suffered a collapsed lung and nerve damage when he was dragged into an alleyway and “left for dead” after being stabbed 14 times.
Margaret pleaded guilty at Burnley Crown Court to violent disorder and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and was caged for 10 years.
Daughter Isabel, has 20 previous convictions, was jailed for six years after she admitted wounding with intent.
Son Joseph, who has 35 previous convictions, was sentenced to eight years after he admitted wounding with intent, affray and possessing a knife in a third attack where he chased two neighbours down the street with a machete.
After the case, one neighbour of Gilheaney said: “People called her the ‘She Devil’ because of all the problems at her house.
“We are not surprised her brood turned out to be little horrors too.”
