Teen rob­ber jailed af­ter CCTV strut

A GUN­MAN was jailed af­ter po­lice recog­nised him strut­ting like a gang­ster on CCTV.

Masked rob­ber Joseph Nya­maswa, 18, ter­rorised shop­keep­ers by wav­ing a pis­tol in their faces to de­mand cash.

Cardiff Crown Court heard how Nya­maswa car­ried out a string of raids in shops, telling one worker: “Open the till or I will shoot you.”

De­te­cive Sere­ant Esyr Jones said: “An of­fi­cer recog­nised the way he walked and the shape of his body.

“The gun­man was heav­ily dis­guised but he had his sus­pi­cions that he had dealt with who­ever was be­hind the mask be­fore.

“It seems it was more for the fun of it, be­cause it’s not as if he got any fi­nan­cial re­ward.

“It was a way of try­ing to live the gang life that he wanted to be part of.”

Nya­maswa, of Rum­ney, Cardiff, was jailed for 12 years af­ter ad­mit­ting rob­bery and pos­sess­ing a firearm.
