SHOUTING MATCH: Suarez is eager to

hit the goal trail for Liverpool but Rooney reckons the Uruguay striker is lucky not to get another ban after kicking Scott Parker in the guts BRAD FRIEDEL reckons Scott Parker can compete with Steven Gerrard to be England’s next captain.

Tottenham keeper Friedel has been stunned by Parker’s performanc­e levels since the midfielder arrived at White Hart Lane earlier in the season.

Friedel feels Parker (left) and Gerrard are obvious candidates after John Terry was stripped of the armband.

And the Yank veteran also believes fellow keeper Joe Hart could handle the captaincy.

“Joe Hart has the mentality to be a captain, but you also have got two other ready-made captains in Stevie Gerrard and Scott Parker,” said Friedel.

“Could Joe Hart do the job? Absolutely. He’s got a magnificen­t head on his shoulders.

“But then you have Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard, who are tremendous players. Now playing with Scott for the last six months or so, you can see that whether he’s wearing the armband or not, he’s going to be a captain.
