Tot­ten­ham keeper Friedel has been stunned by Parker’s per­for­mance lev­els since the mid­fielder ar­rived at White Hart Lane ear­lier in the sea­son.

And the Yank veteran also be­lieves fel­low keeper Joe Hart could han­dle the cap­taincy.

“Joe Hart has the men­tal­ity to be a cap­tain, but you also have got two other ready-made cap­tains in Ste­vie Ger­rard and Scott Parker,” said Friedel.

“Could Joe Hart do the job? Ab­so­lutely. He’s got a mag­nif­i­cent head on his shoul­ders.

“But then you have Scott Parker and Steven Ger­rard, who are tremen­dous play­ers. Now play­ing with Scott for the last six months or so, you can see that whether he’s wear­ing the arm­band or not, he’s go­ing to be a cap­tain.
