WHAT A PENN -IS! Loony lefty blasted over Falklands drivel

- By SIMON DEAN

SEAN Penn faced a storm of abuse last night after he demanded Britain abandon the Falklands and hand the islands’ people to Argentina.

The actor – a pal of Venezuela’s nutjob socialist president Chavez – said that the UK was being ‘ludicrous and archaic’ by believing it could hold on to what he called ‘the Malvinas Islands of Argentina’.

Penn, who has no personal connection with the islands at all, added that diplomacy was needed to resolve the issue but that he was on the side of the Argies.

During a meeting with Argentine President Cristina Kirchner he urged Britain to join Un-sponsored talks over what he called the ‘Malvinas’, as the Falklands are otherwise known in Spanish.

And in the conversation the Shanghai Surprise star said: ‘The world is not going to tolerate any ludicrous and archaic commitment to colonialist ideology.’

His barmy drivel caused a storm on Twitter and other websites, where the actor was called pillock, dickhead and prat.

But the intervention of the actor – who was once married to Madonna – has enraged both Brits and Falkland islanders.

The British government has repeatedly said that those living on the Falklands have the right to decide under which country they want to be governed.
