Super bullet makes near miss a killer

A NEW ‘super bullet’ that EXPLODES near enemies is to be used by Brit troops in Afghanistan.

The XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement system – dubbed ‘The Punisher’ – has already been used in trials.

A solider can aim roughly where he thinks a guerrilla will be and a bullet with a miniature computer chip will detonate.

The XM25 – designed by U.S. firm Alliant Techsystems – causes less damage than a hand grenade, mortar shell or air attack.

“You can no longer shoot British soldiers and then hide behind something – we’re going to reach you and touch you,” said an army spokesman.
