Villas-boas has Mour problems with his players

-

ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS has been told he made a massive mistake quitting FC Porto for Chelsea.

The Blues boss is under growing pressure after his side slipped out of the top four.

And the president of his former club, Pinto da Costa, has cranked up the heat by claiming VillasBoas should have stayed put.

The Porto supremo reckons his former manager has no chance of making his mark while senior Chelsea players are still in touch with Jose Mourinho.

And Da Costa admits he wouldn’t be surprised to see Villas-boas follow in Mourinho’s footsteps for a second time and trade Chelsea for Inter Milan.

Da Costa said: “I think Villas-boas is doing well at Chelsea.

Fighting

“He only needs time to fine-tune the squad but this is impossible when there are players exchanging text messages with Mourinho.

“The only thing that could make him leave Chelsea is if the team fail to qualify for the Champions League.

“If he were to leave Chelsea, I’m sure he will become the next coach at Inter Milan.

“In the past, I said the same thing about Mourinho. However, in my opinion Villas-boas made a mistake to leave Porto so soon. He thought that it was a unique opportunity, but he would surely have got other offers like that.”

Frank Lampard is finding it particularly galling to be out of the title race so soon.

The Blues midfielder said: “We have been fighting to win leagues. Now we are fighting for fourth and that hurts.

“We know we are in a bad way and we have to dig ourselves out of it.”
