Woman on coach was groped by immigrant

AN illegal immigrant who sexually assaulted a woman coach passenger sitting next to him has been jailed.

Narinder Singh, 47, rubbed the woman’s leg and groin before trying to undo her bra.

The catering worker, who faces deportation back to India, initially denied the offence claiming to have been fast asleep on the coach as it headed towards Manchester, in October last year.

However, he later pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual assault and is today beginning a 10-month prison sentence.

A court heard Singh, of Irvine, Scotland, had been a passenger on the overnight National Express service from Glasgow to Plymouth when his victim boarded at Lancaster and sat next to him.

After dozing off, the woman woke to find Singh rubbing her leg and groin. She hit him and told him to stop, but a few minutes later Singh put his hand under her cardigan and tried to undo her bra, leaving the woman ‘extremely upset’ , Manchester crown court was told.

Singh, who entered the country illegally in 1995, was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
