Tory’s plea to spend less on ‘slo-mo crash’
A CONSERVATIVE MP yesterday branded the eurozone a “slowmotion train crash” as he urged the Government to divert billions from the “inflated” EU budget to promoting Britain’s trade with the Commonwealth.
John Baron said the move constituted a “no brainer” with the shared language, accounting and legal systems, and growing markets.
Foreign Secretary William Hague said the Government was putting “increased effort” into trade with emerging economies, including the Commonwealth.
Mr Baron said: “Given the eurozone is a slowmotion train crash, will the Government divert some of the extra billions it is about yet again to throw at an inflated EU budget into furthering trade with the Commonwealth?”
