Wife has right to give players stick
A FOOTBALL chairman has defended the wife of his club’s co-owner for going into the player’s changing room to “express her opinion” at them at losing.
Eddie Mitchell said Irena Demin was entitled to speak to the players of AFC Bournemouth during their defeat on Saturday.
But Mr Mitchell, 56, chairman of the League One club, later apologised for swearing on air at “stupid and patronising” questions asked by BBC 5Live’s Mark Chapman over the incident at their Dean Court ground.
He defended the wife of Russian billionaire Maxim Demin for going into the footballer’s dressing room during their 1-0 home defeat to MK Dons, saying: “She and her husband have put a lot of energy and money into the club and I believe that she is entitled to express her opinion.”
