A Tayl of woe for Toon man

-

STEVEN TAYLOR has been told to forget any hopes of playing again this season.

The crocked Toon defender has watched from the stands since surgery on the Achilles he damaged against Chelsea in December.

The 26-year-old has told pals he’s clinging to the hope of a return for the final few weeks of the campaign to help his bid to figure in Great Britain’s side at the London Olympics.

But Toon boss Alan Pardew said: “Steven is always optimistic, but I’d probably say no to him playing again this season.”

Taylor, who injects himself every day with penicillin to prevent blood clots, is doing light training.

He still hopes to prove his manager wrong, but admitted: “I know from other players who’ve suffered a similar injury that it could spell the end of my season.”
