Boozy gun nutter shot at a school
The bloody truth of life on the front line
A GUNMAN high on drugs and booze has been jailed for four years after using a PRIMARY SCHOOL for target practice.
Russell Armitage ( above), 40, was spotted firing his gun in the direction of the school by a pupil – forcing terrified staff and children to take cover.
A court heard police officers swooped on Armitage’s home in May last year – but he claimed he had simply been cleaning his gun.
Footage recovered from his computer, however, showed that just a week earlier he’d been taking shots at Moldgreen Community Primary in Huddersfield, West Yorks, situated just 50 yards from his house.
The court was told that after his guns were confiscated and he was bailed, a furious Armitage then tried to get into the school, screaming in a drunken rage at teachers that he was going to “get my gun and show you”.
Armitage pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing a firearm and one of intimidation at Bradford Crown Court.
