It’ll be Fab to just play

TOTTENHAM v STOKE

-

HARRY REDKNAPP admits his shell-shocked squad need to play tonight against Stoke – to stop them thinking about Fabrice Muamba.

Tottenham players have been rocked by witnessing the Bolton midfielder suffer a cardiac arrest on the pitch at White Hart Lane.

But the Spurs boss wants them firing on all cylinders against Tony Pulis’ team after three league defeats on the spin.

“Everybody in football’s talking about it, it’s not been away from anybody’s mind,” Redknapp said.

“The only place the players have stopped talking about is the dressing room.

“We need to be ready to play. We can’t come out and not be up for a game. We need a win.

“We can’t come off and say ‘we got the game out of the way’.

“It’s a massive game for us. We can’t afford to lose any games, we’ve got to be ready to play.”

Tight

Spurs have seen their top-four place under threat, and Redknapp added: “We have had a run of not good results, but they have not been bad performances.

“If we don’t win, then things are really getting a bit tight. We have to make sure we try to pick up three points.”

Robert Huth is on a misson to help Stoke recover from their FA Cup misery by securing a top ten spot.

Stoke’s best finish is 11th in the 2009/10 campaign and Huth is determined to help the Potters secure their first ever finish in the top half.

He said: “We want to improve our position from last season and we’re not quite there yet. We need a few more wins but the gap between us and the relegation zone is getting bigger.

“You look ahead at the games and think you can draw one there, and win one. but it never happens like that.”
