IPSWICH v BURNLEY

JEWELL: HE’S SCOT T0O EXPENSIVE!

-

IPSWICH boss Paul Jewell privately admits the club can’t af ford to hand Jason Scotland many mor e starts.

Scotland is two games away from activating a clause in his contract which guarantees a one-year extension on the same wages.

But Jewell fears the club will be unable to stump up the cash for the T rinidad and T obago hitman next term.

He r efuses to admit in public the reason for Scotland’s lack of game time, but with the T ractor Boys safe he is unwilling to risk putting the club’s finances in danger.

Burnley assistant boss Jason Tindall hopes the return of Jay Rodriguez puts an end to their dismal run of six games without a win.

Rodriguez missed Sunday’s bor e draw against Cardiff and Tindall said: “It’s not only 20 goals for our team, but a fantastic player, one of the best in the Championship.

“You are going to miss a player of Jay’s quality.”
