POLICE CUT UP BY SPEED CAM THEFT

AN unhappy motorist is believed to have stolen a roadside speed camera worth £40,000.

The camera was cut down from its post on the A36 in Wellow, near Romsey, Hants.

Sgt Rik Grant, from the Hampshire roads policing unit, said: “The Truvelo camera is worth approximately £40,000.

“If a disc cutter was used it would have made a lot of noise so we’d like to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious.”

Police reckon it may have been revenge by someone being given a speeding ticket or a driver who had been caught on the camera trying to cover his tracks.
