Son dies ahead of dad’s wake
A GRIEVING son went to his village pub to plan a funeral wake for his father – but was killed when he fell into a river on his way home.
Rob Snelling, 47, had a drink in the pub where he planned the event for his 79-year-old dad Graham’s family and friends.
He chatted with the landlord before leaving in the darkness to return to his family home.
But married father-oftwo Rob plunged over the bank into the muddy river – and never made it back.
He was found by a dogwalker “face down in the mud” in the village of Crofty on the Gower, near Swansea, South Wales.
Landlord of the Crofty Inn, Gary Essenhigh, said: “He had been arranging his father’s funeral the morning before he was found. He was going to hold the wake with us.”
Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
