‘I TEACH THEM HOW TO WASH THEIR HANDS’

Team GB cycling boss reveals secret of their record medal haul…

-

CYCLING boss Dave Brailsford has told how Team GB stormed the Olympics – by washing their hands!

The British team has picked up more medals in London’s Games than ever, with Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton and Laura Trott wowing fans.

And Brailsford, 48, said they’ve smashed their personal bests by getting the smallest details right, including making sure they don’t have the tiniest speck of dirt on their hands.

He explained: “The whole principle came from the idea that if you broke down everything you could think of and improved it by 1% and put it back together you’ll get a significant increase.

“There’s fitness and conditioning but there are other things that might seem on the periphery like sleeping in the right position, having the same pillow when you’re training in different places, hygiene.

“Do you really know how to clean your hands? If you do things like that properly, you’ll get ill a little bit less. Tiny things make a difference.”
