Brand’s dad in court for upaid rent

-

COMEDIAN Russell Brand’s dad appeared before a county court judge to beat off a bankruptcy rap.

The cheeky comic’s father, Ron, 67, from Farnham, Surrey, was accused of chalking up £13,000 in unpaid rent on an apartment in Camden, north London, which he left last year.

But he told Guildford County Court he had already paid back £7,000 of the debt

Ron then cheerfully told the judge: “I’ll pay the rest back in 14 days. I’ve got half of it in my jacket pocket.”

Deputy District Judge David Phillips agreed not to proceed with the bankruptcy, but warned him if the money was not paid by the two-week deadline he would have him back in court

The judge added: “It really is time this was sorted out.”

Sarah Clarke, representing the claimants Lownie Investments, said she was satisfied with the offer made.

The case was adjourned for two weeks.
