JAMIROQUAI singer Jay Kay has sold his beloved Maserati for more than £1million.
The stunning 1955 Maserati A6G/54 Frua Berlinetta took pride of place at the Virtual Insanity star’s house.
But after winning awards and competing in vintage races, the musician, 42, decided to part ways with the Italian sports car.
He put it up for auction at Gooding & Co’s prestigious Pebble Beach event in California and the hammer went down at £1,050,000 after frenzied bidding.
Jay said: “This Maserati has been one of my favourite cars.”
The Maserati – which was in excellent condition – was one of 155 classic sports cars sold by Gooding & Co over the weekend.
Total sales reached a staggering £72.7m – thrashing last year’s record figure of £50m.
The highest price received was £7.5m for a 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster, while a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione fetched £7.2m. According to a dating website, she’s the most likely to cheat on her hubby.
