Amazing cliff plunge escape
TWO farmworkers had an amazing escape when a tractor plunged 150ft over a cliff on the north Cornwall coast.
Coastguards raced to the scene after getting a call from a horrified man on a boat who had seen the tractor and trailer topple from the cliff near Crackington Haven.
Police, Cornwall Fire and Rescue, the RNLI, Cornwall Air Ambulance and three cliff rescue teams launched a major operation.
But when they checked the tractor, resting upside down on a ledge down the cliff face, they found it was empty.
The pair who had been pulling ragwort from a field when the tractor started rolling backwards.
They managed to scramble clear seconds before it smashed through a gate and toppled over the edge.
Sadly – brilliant though the Jimmy McGovern-penned series is – it hasn’t found time to display the fine assets of two of its lovely stars.
Stunning actress Anne Marie Duff, 41, might have kept her norks under wraps on the show last night.
But she had no problem whipping them out when she starred in movie The Magdelene Sisters in 2002.
