Mow beats off bigger clubs to sign Josh

- By FRANK MCCAULEY

MIDDLESBROUGH boss Tony Mowbray has revealed he beat off Premier League rivals to land loan signing Josh McEachran.

The midfielder, 19, completed a season-long switch from Chelsea to the Riverside Stadium on Monday and went straight into the squad for the Championship clash with Burnley.

Mowbray said “The competition was quite stiff, not just from the Championship, but Premier League clubs also wanted to take him on board.

“The boy felt he needed to come and play some football and we will give him the platform to do that if his performance levels warrant it.

“I’ve spoken to a few of the Chelsea staff and they appreciate the way we like to play and the reputation we have – and I think that helped our cause.

“He went on loan to Swansea last season and didn’t play, for whatever reason.

“Hopefully, we can find the right environ- ment for him to come here and impact on our team and help us.”

CREWE have signed Manchester City striker Harry Bunn on a sixmonth loan deal.

The 19-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for the Premier League champions, but has a prolific scoring record for City’s youth and reserve teams and enjoyed spells with Rochdale, Preston and Oldham last season.

CARLISLE have been rocked by the news that striker Lee Miller could be out for a month.

The 28-year-old picked up an ankle injury in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Stevenage.
