Student solves age-old problem

IT’S the moment that can make, or break, a perfect moment of passion – coolly unwrappping a condom.

Now a young designer has come to the rescue of every excited, fumbling fella by inventing a condom that can be opened using just one hand.

Ben Pawle, 24, came up with a idea for the easy open condom wrapper as part of university course.

His design allows men to open it with a flick of the thumb, saving time – and fumbling – in that moment of passion.

He said: “Unwrapping a condom can be a stressful, distracting experience.

“You’re not supposed to use teeth and it would have been weird to ask her.

“It has been designed to exploit the moment of opening, trying to make it as smooth in real life as the rose-tinted vision in your head.”

The Glasgow School of Art student came up with the time-saving design as part of a project which saw him focus on the effects of childhood hemiplegia – a condition that weakens one side of the body, suffering conditions similar to those of a stroke.

As part of his project, Ben, from Carlisle in Cumbria, designed a condom wrapper that can be opened easily by hemiplegia sufferers.

Now, the rubber johnny industry is welcoming his design.

Reflecting on the condom’s success, Ben, from Carlisle, Cumbria, said: “It’s quite overwhelming.”
