A whopping 40 per cent told the survey that listening to music was more likely to get them in mood than touching during sex.

Gaye’s smooth vocals proved a hit for lovers, with Let’s Get It On also taking the number two spot.

For those with an album’s staying power, Dirty Dancing was named the best soundtrack for a lengthy knee-trembler.

Spotify’s Science Behind the Song study interviewed 2,000 people aged 18-91.

And it revealed that your seduction playlist is more important than what’s under your clothes when it comes to bedroom success.

Music psychologist Dr Daniel Müllensiefen from University of London said: “From neuro-scientific study we know that music can activate the same pleasure centres of the brain that also respond to much less abstract rewards such as food, drugs or indeed sex.”
