OUTGOING ASH IS ON THE BALL

OUTGOING technical chief Dan Ashworth has told how he started working on West Brom’s summer transfer targets the day after the last window shut.

Ashworth has agreed to become the FA’s new director of elite development but Albion chairman Jeremy Peace insisted on the 41-year-old working out his notice period until next summer.

Ashworth said: “When the window closed, an email went the next day with our summer targets.

“We’re looking towards summer 2013 and we will spend the coming months doing that.”
