REAL STAR SLAMS REDS FOR THEIR NEGATIVE APPROACH

- By FRANK MCCAULEY

GONZALO HIGUAIN has taunted Man United by insisting Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are heading to Spain to defend.

Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is feeling the pressure before the crunch Champions League clash.

Real are after a 10th European Cup – and are a stunning 16 points adrift of Barcelona in the Spanish league.

Mourinho is set to walk away at the end of the season but could be given the boot sooner if his side are dumped out of Europe.

United are streaking away with the title race in England, but were dumped out of the group stage in the Champions League last term.

And Argentina striker Higuain believes the Reds will be looking for a point and no more in what is being billed as the glamour clash of the year.

He is confident Real can pull Fergie’s boys all over the place in the white-hot atmosphere of the Bernabeu.

He said: “I think it’s quite a compact team. United always get through to the final stages in European competitions and there’s a reason why.

“We will have to be on our guard.

“Our aim is to win the match and if we can keep a clean sheet, then that’s even better.

“We know that an away goal in this competition can be important.”

Higuain has also warned United that concentrating on superstar Cristiano Ronaldo alone will cause them big problems.

Argie ace Higuain is battling with Angel Di Maria, Karim Benzema and Mesut Ozil to play alongside Ronaldo in the first leg tonight.

He added: “It’s difficult to choose, because I think a team has to have everything to be a competitive side.

“We have individual quality and we can be dangerous on the counter-attack, but I couldn’t name one thing because a top level team has to have everything.”
